Terre Holt Morris passed peacefully surrounded by her family on March 27, 2023. She resided with her late husband, Joseph H. Morris, Sr., with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, in the home they built together in Sadsburyville, PA. Terre and Joe retired to their “happy place” on the Chesapeake Bay in Rock Hall, MD in 1997. Most recently, Terre lived in Coatesville with her daughter and son-in-law.

Terre was born in Hibernia, PA on July 27, 1937 and grew up with her sister, June and parents John L. Holt and Pearl Bernard Holt in Wagontown, PA. Terre graduated from S. Horace Scott Senior High School, class of 1954 and was employed by the former Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville, PA.

Her son, Capt. Joseph H. Morris, Jr and her sister June H. McCorkle predeceased her.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather M. Wright, wife of Craig G. Wright of Coatesville, PA, one granddaughter, Arden A. Wright and her husband Nik Bando, of Brooklyn, NY and her daughter-in-law, Amanda Reid Morris of Lewes, DE.

Terre is also survived by nieces Darryl Lockhart, wife of Raymond Lockhart, Melissa Lockhart and her wife Tiffany Clary, all of Punta Gorda, FL, cousin Charlotte Bould of Wagontown, PA, brother-in-law, Ivan Morris and family, sister-in-law, Barbara Zorn and family. Terre’s legacy continues to live on through the many cousins and relatives whom she loved that live both near and far remembering her loving demeanor, infectious laugh, and sense of humor.

While living in Chester County, Terre was a member of the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, a member of the Junior Century Club of Coatesville, the Auxiliary to the Coatesville Hospital, Friends of the Michael Margolies Library and the YWCA Auxiliary.

She enjoyed reading, loved animals and appreciated nature’s beauty while gardening or just sitting amongst it. Terre was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed being surrounded by all those she loved whether it be at home or out on their boat, Mor-Fun VI. She loved to laugh and this is how she would wish to be remembered.

Terre’s service will be held April 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1121 Octorara Trail, Parkesburg, PA 19365 (610) 857-5787. There will be no viewing, and interment will be immediately following the ceremony.

Condolences

Mother of my dear friend, Heather, starting in high school years, Terre was like another Mom to me, yet, also, a friend. I enjoyed her hospitality, sly comments, sense of humor, and good natured support. I was fortunate to count her among my friends all these years, and enjoyed catch up visits at Heather and Craig’s. Her spirit will live on in her beautiful family and the memories of which she was a wonderful part. I am sorry I am in Germany for the next month and will not be able to attend the services, but I will be, for sure, there in spirit! In loving remembrance, Albert

We are very sorry to hear about "Mrs. Morris"  She was always part of our family.  I will always remember our trips to the mountains and the bay to jump off the boat.  Such sweet memories for such a sweet family.  Prayers for the family.
