Shirley L. Collins, 59, of Parkesburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Neighborhood Hospice Center in West Chester. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Luther G. and J. Gertrude Johnson Smith.

Shirley was a 1968 graduate of Coatesville High School. She was employed by Acme Markets retiring in 2009 with 29 years of service. She was a member of Freedom Life Christian Center of Christiana, PA.  She was actively involved in Philabundance, helping to feed those in need. Shirley was a loving Mother, Grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed the art of scrap booking.

She is survived by one daughter, DeAnna, wife of Brian Zynn of Parkesburg; three grandsons, David, Dylan and Dalton Zynn; two sisters, Alice Carney of New Holland and Ruthann Biddle of East Fallowfield and three brothers, Luther G. Smith, Jr. of Narvon, Daniel Smith of Morgantown and John Smith of Christiana. She was preceded in death by a son Richard L. Collins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Freedom Life Christian Center, 447 Noble Road, Christiana, Pa., followed by interment at the Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the church from 10:00 am to the time of the service.

I am so sorry for your loss. She put up one hell of a fight! I will ALWAYS be thankful for her, for she made sure my mom got her chest xray. I will remember her smile, she always had a beautiful smile on her face. May God be with you at this sad time and always.

Iam so sorry for your loss.She was the kindest,sweetest lady I had ever met,she opened her arms and heart to my son and I,and I know she will be greatly missed. She was always our Mommom Shirl, we will miss her!! My prayers are with you (DeAnna) and your family. Love,Kathy and Greggory

I worked with Shirley at the Oxford Acme for several years. What a wonderful lady! I am comforted in knowing that she is with Jesus and free of pain. God bless

Shirly was a awesome coworker. We worked together at Newtown Square Acme Before we both later transfered to other stores. I will always remember her smile and great sense of humour. May she rest in peace and may your God be with you during these difficult times.
