Roger Dale Horton, 62, of Oxford, was welcomed into Heaven on October 7th, 2012, where he will wait for us until we are reunited.

Roger was a loving husband, devoted father, and the strength of his family.

To those who knew and survive him, he will be lovingly remembered as a quiet, wise man.

Born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, he was the son of George and Hassie Buchanan Horton and stepson to Ernest Brewer. He resided in Hickory Hill, Oxford PA.

Roger was the husband of Ida Jane Barlow, with whom he shared 44 years of love and devotion. He was the father of three children: Roger D., husband to Jude Trout, Daniel S., husband to Jenifer Moore, and daughter Karin N. Horton.

He is also survived by ten grandsons: Robert, Roger, Hunter, Richard, Joseph, Zachary, Walker, Chris, David and Jacob, as well as four granddaughters: Sabrina, Autumn, Shannen, and Emily, one sister, Nancy Hayworth of Oxford, PA and her daugthers Nikki Bettin and Michelle DeEmilio.

He was a multi-talented man. He built the home that he and Jane lived in for nineteen years. He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter, and could fix anything mechanical.

Roger was employed prior to his retirement by Lukens / Bethlehem Steel in Coatesville, PA

Memorial services will be held on Thursday evening, October 11, 2012 at 8:00 pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 6 to 8:00 pm.

This is Jim Mattson, I worked with Roger for 30 years in the mill. He was a great guy, easy to approach and always had a solution to any problem. He was smart and funny and I am glad I knew him. Sorry for your loss, Jim Mattson
