86 Years
West Brandywine Township, PA

Joseph H. Fulmer, 86, of West Brandywine Township, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 22, 1937, he was the son of the late Arthur and Edna (Simmons) Fulmer. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia (Muncey) Fulmer whom he married on May 14, 1983.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his 2 children, Scott Fulmer and Linda Fulmer, and his 5 stepchildren, Frank Meyer and his wife Hana, Elizabeth Thomas and her husband Joe, Eric Meyer and his wife Sue, John Meyer and his wife Michelle, and Virginia Wray and her husband Norman. Joe was preceded in death by grandson Joseph Anthony Farrell III (US Navy Veteran) and is survived by 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he became an electrician. After serving he went to work as a pressman for Alcoa Corporation, formerly known as Mill Print Company and Reynolds Company, in Downingtown, PA, and worked there until his retirement. Always a hard worker, he spent a good part of his retirement doing roofing and small jobs with his longtime coworker and dearly departed best friend Willard Marsh.

Joe was a gifted carpenter and craftsman and used his God-given skills to help others. He was in his element both in his workshop and outdoors, especially on the tractor and didn’t let any grass grow under his feet! He enjoyed camping and fishing and kept a small craft bass boat handy for many years. He loved his wife and family and most of all his God and was bold in sharing the good news of the free gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member of Forks of The Brandywine Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Glenmoore, PA, and enjoyed wonderful fellowship there.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday,  February 23,  2024 at Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1648 Horseshoe Pike, Glenmoore, PA 19343. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation period taking place from 10:30 AM until the start of the service.

Condolences

We send our heartfelt condolences to all of Mr. Fulmer's family.  I always enjoyed being in the company of my dad and Mr. Fulmer.  They worked hard together, had a great respect for each other, and always got the job done right.  They worked together finishing my basement, and it was a pleasure to see this dynamic duo, this quiet devoted force, this unique and genuine friendship, in action.  And dad would sometimes make a little joke and tease Mr. Fulmer, and Mr. Fulmer would turn slowly to look at me with a warmhearted smile that I can still see today.  I'll add that, while working in my basement, I told Mr. Fulmer that it didn't seem right that I called him Joe, having called him Mr. Fulmer all my life.  He told me he was happy and fine with that.  I'm wondering what project they are working together on now, or maybe they are doing some fishing.  I am grateful that dad had such a great friend in his life.
