Harry O. Chesnet, 77, of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 at Brandywine Hospital.  He was the widower of the late Ruth Ann Chesnet, who passed away in 2019 after they had shared 44 years of marriage.  

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late John P. and Anna Mae Chesnet.  Harry was a graduate of Scott High School.  

Harry served honorably in the US Marines Corps from 1963 to 1967, earning the rank of Sergeant (E-5).  He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal.

Harry was a career fireman for the Coatesville VA.  Beginning at a young age, Harry volunteered for numerous fire departments throughout his life, including Westwood Fire Co. and West End Fire Co.  Harry loved his four dogs, Mindy, Missy, Dusty and Katie, and enjoyed doing woodworking.

He is survived by two children: Donald Krauss of Dover, DE, and Clarissa "Kris" Taylor and husband David of Nottingham, PA, one grandson Shayne Altizer; and his brother John Chesnet.

He was predeceased by his sister, Doris Henley.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life drop-in on Saturday, June 12th at 1 PM at his home.  The home address can be obtained from the family.

I am saddened to hear of Harry's passing.I worked in the Equipment shop in the other end of the Fire House bldg. and interacted with him on many occasions.Harry was a great guy and always a pleasure to be around.........lots of memories!Praying for peace as you all deal with his passing.

We are saddened to hear of Harry's passing. He was not only a great firefighter, but an all around great guy! May the sirens blow loudly and the ladder reach high as he receives is fire angle wings. Rest in peace our friend!
