George Carlton Young, 82, of Atglen, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, in London Grove.  He was the husband of Joanne Salvucci Young for over 47 years.  Born in Coatesville he was the son of the late William C. and Mary E. Sener Young.

George lived in Atglen his entire life.  He graduated from the first graduating class at Octorara High School in 1957 after attending S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville and worked for the gas department as a welder and foreman at Philadelphia Electric in Coatesville.  He was a member of the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, the Skerrett Lodge #343 F.&A.M., and was formerly the Whipper-in for the hounds at the Andrew’s Bridge Hunt Club, and a member of the Cochran Hunt Club.

He had a love of horses, fox hunting, and bluegrass music, playing guitar, mandolin, and fiddle.  In his younger days he enjoyed small game hunting, trout fishing, and camping.  He enjoyed spending time at his cottage at Mount Gretna, his cabin in Orbisonia, PA, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, George (Sharie) Young of Boulder City, NV, William (Denise) Young of Cornwall, PA, step-children, Edward (Kim) Myers of Atglen, PA, and Steven Myers of West Palm Beach, FL, nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
