Arthur J. Spencer, 88, formerly of Kennett Square, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the Coatesville VA Medical Center Hospice Unit.  He was the husband of Mildred L. "Millie" Bonsall Spencer.  Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late Robert Cecil and Edith R. Manley Spencer.

He was a graduate of Unionville High School, Class of 1949, and he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver, hauling freight at Mushroom Transportation for 31 years and Preston Trucking for 8 years, retiring in 1993.

Arthur enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing softball.  He was a member of Brandywine Baptist Church in Chadds Ford, the American Legion of Kennett Square and the Marlborough Hunting and Fishing Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Patricia and her husband Bill Daddario of West Grove, Dawn  Robertshaw and fiance, Bill Petzinger of Allentown, NJ. and Arthur J. Spencer Jr. of Rising Sun, MD, four grandchildren; Jennifer Robertshaw-Musyt and her husband Jonathan of Lititz, Jessica Spencer and Sara Spencer both of Rising Sun, MD, Melissa Daddario of Conestoga, PA, two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Peter Musyt, a brother,Robert P. Spencer of Wilmington, DE, sister-in-law Shirley Spencer of Las Vegas, NV, and brother-in-law, Gerald Powell of  Kennett Square.  He was preceded in death by siblings, Ronald S. Spencer and Sara Powell.

A celebration of Arthur's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 11:00 am, from the Brandywine Baptist Church, Chadds Ford, PA, with visitation from 10:00 am until time of service.  A light lunch will follow the service at the church.   Internment will be private.
