Coatesville

With broken hearts, we announce that Anna Margaret Brown left us to go Home to Glory while at Pocopson Home in West Chester. On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, she peacefully crossed the veil to meet those family members that have gone on before her.

Born on February 7, 1922, she recently celebrated her 100th birthday with many family members present. Born in Christiana, she was the daughter of the late Levi D. and Tamara Anna Halliger Thompson. Anna was the wife of the late Herbert Brown and Earl E. Taylor, Sr. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Atglen, PA.

Anna loved doing puzzles while enjoying a good cup of coffee. She was known for making some of the best lemon meringue pies and had an ornery streak that was common among the Thompson family. Proud of her family heritage, she participated in many events in Christiana when realizing her family participated in the Resistance at Christiana, the Underground Railroad, and fought for the Union during the Civil War.

She is survived by daughters; Yvonne A. McGaw of Coatesville, Martha R. Taylor of Oxford and Darlene A. Colón of Lancaster and sons, Earl E. Taylor, Jr. (Jackie) of Pomeroy and Robert L. Taylor of Gap, PA. Also 25 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and 71 great-great grandchildren and 17 great-great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Freda Dickinson of Coatesville.

She was predeceased by the following; daughters; Arla J. Taylor, Andrea Middleton and Victoria Bookman, sons Richard Thompson, William, Abram, Frederick and Gerald Taylor. Her granddaughters, Antoinette Dixon Blagmon and Stephanie Cannon; her great-grandson James M. Bookman, as well as her sisters; Daisy Thompson, Helen Hurdle, Bertha Hopkins, Dorothy Dickinson and brothers, Willliam Stewart, Levi, Floyd and Raymond Thompson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with a viewing from 9:00 AM to the time of the service. Entombment will be private at the Rolling Green Cemetery in West Chester, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to:
Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church 404 Zion Hill Road Atglen, PA 19310

Dear cousins, we are sorry to hear the loss of Cousin Sis. She was a wonderful woman who always had a smile and a love for her family. I have missed and will forever miss her Sunday smile when I would climb the steps of Mt. Zion. She had such a beautiful smile thou she had that Thompson growl she always came with love. With Love your Zion Hill Thompson Cousins.
