James E. Geesey, 75, of Christiana, PA, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Lancaster Rehabilitation Hospital. Jim was the beloved husband of Kathleen Welsch Geesey. They shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Unionville, PA, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Margaret Gibson Geesey.

James was employed as a heavy equipment operator at Bilran Excavating, a Horst Company in Lancaster, and with Bulldog Excavating of Christiana, PA. He also worked for Geesey Construction and owned Geesey Landscaping.

Jim was a graduate of the class of 1964 at Octorara Area High School. He was active with Latta Memorial United Presbyterian Church in Christiana, PA. He was a life member of Atglen Fire Company and he enjoyed being Santa Claus to hundreds of children for fifteen years at Atglen Fire Company. His love for children was so evident that amazingly, not one child cried for him or refused to sit on his lap. He also served on the Sadsbury Township Planning Commission for five years.

Jim loved playing basketball and played for Octorara Area High School, with his team winning the District Championship during his senior year. He was also a member of their track team. He loved sports and fishing and traveling. Jim held a racing record for several years at Maple Grove Speedway. When Jim worked as Santa, he collected Santa figures and amassed a collection of over three hundred figures. The family was a very large part of his life.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his daughters, Pamela Geesey Scott of Philadelphia, Amy Geesey Sturgill and husband Travis of Parkesburg, and five grandchildren; Lisa L Barr and her fiancé Jim Hess of Bethlehem, Jason L. Barr and wife Rebecca Riley Barr of Christiana, Jessica M. Barr of Christiana, Ricky Scott of Paradise and Jacob Sturgill of Parkesburg, two great-grandchildren; Alaina Barr, daughter of Jason and Rebecca and Liam Scott; and two sisters; Irene Geesey of San Diego, CA and Margaret Geesey Hall of Leland, NC.
