Joan L. (Ferron) Scheetz, 76, of Parkesburg, PA and Ocean City, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was surrounded by all of her family.

She was the wife of Carroll W. Scheetz Jr. with whom she shared 57+ years of marriage.

Born in Valley Township, Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Lynaugh Ferron.

Joan was a resident of Parkesburg and Cochranville all of her life. She enjoyed spending time at her beach home in Ocean City, NJ. She was a 1962 graduate of Octorara Area High School where she was a Cheerleader, Majorette, a member of the marching band and secretary of her class. She was also a lifelong member of Our Lady of Consolation Church. Joan retired as a clerical administrator for the Donald K. Martin Company in West Chester and later the Univest Bank and Trust in Souderton.

She is also survived by daughters Lisa Hackenburg of Elizabethtown, PA, Dr. Leslie (Troy) Bensinger of Duluth, GA, Holly (Chris) Marx of Castle Pines, CO, four grandchildren: Ferron Marx, Isabella Bensinger, Sullivan Marx, Charlie Bensinger, and a sister, Kathleen Jackson of Oxford, PA.

Joan was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the beach, celebrating Holidays with family, rocking in her chair, reading and gardening. She was a very active member of the Octorara class of 1962 reunion committee.

Family and friends may call on January 6th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg and again January 7th from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at our Lady of Consolation Church, Parkesburg. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, Parkesburg.

Interment will be at Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, East Fallowfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the National Autism Association, donate.nationalautismassociation.org, or Special Olympics, support.specialolympics.org.

To Carroll and all of his family,

I had talked to her a week before and she was waiting to have all her family for Christmas. She was always so up and smiling. My prayers are for your peace and strength at this time.
