in Hockessin, Delaware, on Saturday, April 30 at 2:00 PM.

Curt “Pop-Pop” Mendenhall, 63, of West Grove, PA, passed away suddenly, October 3, 2021 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Curt and his wife Alice Brown Mendenhall enjoyed many adventures together over their 36 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the proud son of the late Robert “Fats” Mendenhall and Ruth Ann Gouge Mendenhall.

Curt grew up old school proud and country to the core. He was set in his old fashioned ways. He had a get it done attitude and traded school books for backhoes, track hoes, and graders. He became an expert heavy equipment operator and was admired for his skills. He was often asked to share his expertise. Curt could fix anything, a mechanic, handyman, a jack of all trades. BUT “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was a hard worker, providing for his family who always came first. When he wasn’t working, his passions were being in the garage with his brothers and friends, tinkering with motorcycles, riding or spending time with his grandkids. Curt loved the mountains and cherished memories he made with family and friends riding 4 wheelers, 6 wheelers and snow mobiles. His daughters, Kristen, Jessica and grandkids brought him pride and joy. Every December, Curtis would put on his Santa suit, grab his Santa sack, get on his motorcycle and make a special visit to all the children in his life. He had an unforgettable smile for all of us to remember. He was unique, one of a kind and a hero to many.

Curt worked hard as a heavy equipment operator all of his life and was employed by the Allan Myers Construction Company in Fallston, Maryland.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two daughters; Kristen Mendenhall of West Grove, PA, Jessica Sollenberger and husband Chad of Quarryville, PA three grandchildren; Braden (Orville), Maggie and Eric, four siblings; Lana Santucci and husband Vince of West Grove, PA, Dale Mendenhall of West Grove, PA and his late wife Gina Snyder, Vaughn Mendenhall and wife Michelle of Nottingham, PA and Stu Mendenhall and wife Darlene of Cochranville, PA, several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Mendenhall and one sister Phyllis Mendenhall.

Curt left us while doing what he loved best.

Rest Easy Brother In Law.  You were a hard working honest man who always put your family first.  You will be remembered for always having a big smile on your face - even if it was a Sh** eatin' grin at times. You will be truly missed by many and will be forever remembered as the Harley Riding Santa.  Ride On in eternal peace......until we  meet again.

I am so sorry for this loss He was a fun loving guy who always was there when anyone needed him for anything.  He taught me about working on bikes, he helped when just needed to talk or scream to let out frustrations.  He was a good hearted man.  I will miss you so very much,  I didn't get to see you much here lately but always was in my mind and heart.  R.I.P. my best friend I will miss you I will always hold that frisby in my heart and hand.
