Nellie Softchin, 95, of Gap Pa, passed away in her home, with her family at her side, on Friday, September 24, 2021 in hospice care. Born on December 27, 1925.

Nellie was the daughter of the late Nicholas Softchin and Pauline Hullenbec both from the Ukraine.

Born and raised in Parkesburg, she was a 1944 graduate of the former Parkesburg High School.

Nellie was formerly from Boulder City, Nevada where she lived for 45 years. Due to her health, she recently moved back t Pennsylvania and lived with her niece for 5 months.

She was a nurse for Dr, George Smith for a short time and changed her career to become an administrative secretary for United Steelworkers local #1165 in Coatesville for 20 years. Nellie, along with her sisters, became a model in New York.

While in Nevada, Nellie worked at the Boulder Dam Museum which she really enjoyed.

Nellie loved helping others in her community and was involved in the senior center. She enjoyed going to the casinos with her friends in Nevada. She had a smile that was contagious.

She was a member of St. Andrews in Nevada. Nellie recently met Father O'Neill of Our Lady of Consolation Church and was blessed to have known him for such a short time.

Nellie is survived by one brother Samuel Softchin Sr., many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by sisters Annie Kiss, Marianne Simone, Catherine Ogden, Rose Klunk, Julie Kaighn, and one brother John Softchin.

At the request of her family, there will be a private ceremony.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com
