George R. Daller, 88, of Atglen, passed away on April 22, 2021, at Twin Pines Nursing Home in West Grove.  He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor Young Daller, who passed away in 2020 after they had shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Parkesburg, Pa, he was the son of the late George C. and Jane M. Cahill Daller.

George worked on the original construction of the Octorara High School and joined the custodial department for the School District in 1956, retiring after 35 years of service.  He was well known for his radiant smile and friendliness in the hallways and at sporting events.  In 1983 the students dedicated the yearbook to George.  Octorara also honored him by naming the auditorium the George Daller Auditorium.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, roller skating, model trains, and flying model airplanes.  He was always happy to talk about Philadelphia sports teams.

George is survived by his son, G. Richard Daller, and his siblings Donald "Ducky" Daller of West Chester and Dorothy Farrell of Strasburg.

There will be a private service at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

So very sorry to hear. He made everyone he came into contact with feel so special. I was a mascot at OHS when I met and insisted on hugging him after every basketball game before I would go home. God bless his beautiful soul. Shari Kolodski Dull

Mr. Daller was the highlight of my high school career! I was new to OASD when I started high school and he always showed up just when I needed someone to talk to. His smile never ceased to amaze me. He was the light to so many and will never be forgotten! Bless him and his family.

The first vision that came to mind for me was him driving his ,65 Mustang with that big grin. He loved that '65 mustang.

He took such great care of OHS, especially the athletic facilities. He did that to take care of us, the athletes. We could always be proud at home contests.

He was always at every game or match, cheering on our wrestlers, basketball/baseball/soccer/field hockey/volleyball teams and track athletes; boys and girls teams equally.

I was able to know George as a student, teacher and coach. He was always the same: great with everyone. He loved OHS. He had the brightest smile and a special glean in his eyes when he talked w you that made you feel special.

Rest in Peace in Heaven, George Daller.

I think the naming of the auditorium after Mr.  Daller says it all about such a genuine, honorable and decent person. So many people are proud to have known him.

I remember Mr. Daller from my high school years in the 1970's.  He was always happy and smiling and always a twinkle in his eyes. Years later, I ran into him locally and he still remembered my name and that I had played in the band. What a memory. I am proud  and blessed to have known such a wonderful man.

I am so sorry for your loss. To lose both of your parents within a year is so tragic. Please know you are in my prayers. I knew your dad was in failing health after a conversation with your mom @ Mrs Forrester's funeral.

Your parents were a part of my childhood as your grandmother Mary Young was my grandmother Edna's best friend. Your mom was such a dear person that always was willing to lend a friendly ear.

Your dad would torment me constantly when I was in high school saying that he was going to make a room for me in one of the closets because I never went home and was always involved in one activity or another. I think I will always remember his sense of humor and smile.

I had the honor to cross paths with George when we held our dance recitals at Octorara HS. George always was there ready to help with anything we needed. Talking with George always made you like you were the most important person. The earth lost a angel but heaven gained one. If only people were half the genuine person that George was..,, we will miss to George here on earth!

Ricky, so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was such a great guy. Herman and I Remember him fondly as do most of the students that went to Octorara during that time. What a hard worker he was. Your mom was the best also. She only had good things to say, and in a funny way.

I remember Mr. Daller as the kind, gentle & always smiling custodian who took pride in keeping our high school clean.  He would always stop and say hello.  He loved his job & the Octorara community.

George was a beloved member of the Octorara School Community for so many years. My late husband Gene Davis had enormous respect for George and appreciation for how the soccer field was always maintained. George would always go the extra mile and had a love for Octorara that manifested it in his work ethic and his good-natured outlook.
As a high school student I remember George before school when I went in early, during school at assemblies, and after school at practices . If he was needed, he was there!
Later when I was a first year teacher getting my classroom ready, he would stop in my room to see how I was coming along. I remember telling him I felt like I should work a few hours on the weekend. He said, "No problem. I'll slip out and open up for you." Which, of course he did, accepting my new teacher preparations (and nervousness) so graciously, welcoming me into my new role in our Octorara family. What a peach of a guy to have your back.
I am grateful to have known George.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of George. He was truly one of the rare "good ones" - a truly genuine soul. I had the pleasure of working with him the summer of 1980 post high school. We ran around all summer in the OHS yellow van picking up furniture while consolidating the neighborhood elementary schools. He tried to teach me how to chew tobacco and by the end of our summer tour my side of the van was covered in brown streaks - we laughed a lot. At the end of each day he would say: "Denny, we did a power of work today - didn't we Denny". Rest in peace George. If there is a heaven - your certainly earned it....  DBY

George was a huge part of the Parkesburg & Octorara School Area. I remember George and his family who resided at Main Street Parkesburg...friendly and most pleasant. In later years, seeing him @ the high School (during our cheerleading practices). Always cordial and patient with the noise we made and our sometimes in the way of his wanting to do his job. But he never ever complained; that's the kind of person he was. If memory serves me right, I think he drive the school van to out-of-town basketball games from time to time. May he rest in peace and will always be remembered as one who so many looked up to. George did it all..."one of a kind"! Family....be blessed in knowing that George was a special person to many generations in P'burg and the Octorara School District! Prayers of comfort.
