Gary P. Westfall, Sr., 74, of Christiana, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2020 after a lengthily illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol M. Plant Westfall with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Southend, England, he was the son of the late Russell J. Westfall and Patrice St. Claire Westfall.
Gary moved with his family to the area from England when he was nine years old. He was employed by the former Canine Caterers in West Chester as warehouse manager.

Gary was an avid reader, a "walking encyclopedia", knowledgeable in many fields, including world history and geography, science, natural science, politics, home maintenance and automobiles. He loved fixing up his house and created a beautiful home for his family. Gary always worked hard and he was a rock his family could depend on. He enjoyed trips to the beach, his dogs and driving his Mercedes roadster. "Grump" will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by friends and family.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children; Gary P. Westfall, Jr. and wife Lyka of Strasburg, PA, Heather K. Westfall Reed, VMD and husband Dan Reed of Reading, PA and Daniel P. Westfall of Christiana, PA and three grandchildren; Tabitha, Hailey and Ronnie.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com

Condolences

Carol, you found a beautiful picture of Big G and described who he was to perfection. He was always so kind and helpful to me and my children when all of us lived across the street from each other. On more than one occasion while I was at work or school he was called to my house by either Heather or Danny to broker peace between Jennifer and David. He would send Little G over to my house to assist with any  heavy lifting.  I will always remember him saying to you and me before we headed out for some play time "you two girls stay out of trouble or what are you two girls up to now"  He was an honorable man and good friend. I am glad to have had the privilege of knowing him  over the past forty plus years. Heartfelt condolences to all of the family,  especially to you, Little G, Heather, Danny and his grandchildren.

I am so sorry to hear about Gary's passing.  I went to work at Canine Caterers in 1988 in the Data Entry Dept.  The company put myself and few other new employees out in the "Pick/Pack" area of the warehouse to get familiar with the products for a few months, and Gary was who trained/supervised us. His memory was amazing with regards to where things were stocked and product item #'s.  I went on to work for Canine Caterers for another 5 years until they were no longer in business. During that time, I remember Gary to be a very kind and gentle soul with a witty sense of humor.  He was hard worker and did not have an easy job, but he was always respectful, obliging and loyal to the end.

It's interesting to read about a whole other side to him that I never knew, like his love for reading and his knowledge of so many things.  I guess besides being a kind and gentle soul he was humble, too.

I will remember Gary for the beam of light he was while here in this very dark world.

Blessings and Peace-
