Oscar Levi Whitehead, 74, of Gap, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was the beloved husband of Mary E. (Hilton) Whitehead, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.  

Born in Pocahontas, VA, he was the son of the late Gladys and Henry Whitehead Sr.  

He was employed by Wayne Moving and Storage of West Chester for 24 years, retiring four years ago.

He belonged to Coatesville Bible Fellowship and Wyebrook Baptist Church.  Oscar was a life member of the Thorndale Fire Company.  

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his children: Lisa Murray, wife of Sean, of Gap, Patrina Whitehead of Arizona, James Varner, husband of Ilene, of New Holand, Mark Varner, husband of Gina Harris of Houston and Dorothy Triplett of Ronda, N.C.; twelve grandchildren; and siblings, Arnold Whitehead (Vivian), Ronnie Whitehead (Mary), Clinton Whitehead, Virginia Whitehead, Peggy Ann Huff (Bobby) and Brenda Stamper (Rodney).  

He was predeceased by children: Kathy Jo Whitehead, Jodie Whitehead and Tammi Whitehead Hulse; grandson, David Triplett and siblings, Wally Whitehead, Shirley Robbins, Dixie Blunt and Henry Whitehead Jr.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5th at 11AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Sadsbury Friends Meeting Burial Ground of Gap.  Viewing will be from 10 until 11 AM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Wilde Funeral Home to offset the cost of the funeral.
