Joanne P. Cooper, 82 of Parkesburg passed away at her home on Sunday, March 22, 2020. She was the widow of the late Charles T. Cooper Jr., with whom she shared 52 yrs of marriage. Born in West Chester she was the daughter of the late Edward & Elva Brown and the stepdaughter of the late Edith Brown.

She grew up in Avondale and was a graduate of Avon Grove High School. When she moved to Parkesburg she was a dedicated housewife. In her later years she was employed as a domestic worker and as a childcare worker for Curiosity Corner.

In her youth, she was a member of Mt. Tabor Church, where she sang on the choir. She was a dedicated member of Bethany AME Church. She was glad to be a servant of GOD and served faithfully as Trustee Board Vice Chairperson, Stewart board member, church secretary, Conference branch missionary, President of the usher board for 20 years,  Interdenominational Church Usher Association, a Sunday school teacher, member of improvement club, and member of Bethany voices of praise.

She enjoyed reading, baking, Broadway shows and visiting the sick and shut ins. She especially enjoyed her time with family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her motto was "If I can help somebody as I pass this way, then my living has not been in vain."

She is survived by her son Charles T., husband of Lisa, Cooper III of Coatesville, seven grandchildren (Brandon, Andrea, Latisha, Deshawna, Charlis, Charles and Corey) and 12 great-grandchildren. A sister Yvonne Goodwin of West Grove and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Charlene Cooper and Arnetta Flowers and several brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Bethany AME Church, 405 Green St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Compass, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joanne's memory to Bethany AME Church,  the Joanne P. Cooper Scholarship Fund.

My condolences to the family. Jesus gave us hope when he taught us to pray for God's Kingdom to come. His Kingdom will bring about so many wonderful blessings and it will put an end to all the pain that causes us to suffer including death.
