Frank L. Terry, Sr., 96, of Parkesburg, passed away on Saturday, November 29th at the Brandywine Hospital.  He was the widower of the late Jessie (Major) Terry.  

Born in Lansford, Pa., Frank was the son of the late Anne and Thomas Terry Sr.

An area resident for most of his life, Frank worked in the CCC Camp in New Mexico, in the Coal Mines and he retired from G.O. Carlson in 1980 for 34 years.  

Frank served honorably in WWII with the Merchant Marines.  On Feb. 22, 1942, Frank dove from the exploding W.D. Anderson cargo ship which had been torpedoed by a German U-Boat.  He was the only one of 36 crew members to survive.

He is survived by his four children: Sandra Fowler, wife of William, of East Fallowfield, Frank L. Terry Jr. of Parkesburg, Christy Betz, companion of Thomas Kunkel, of Christiana and Tina Kunkel, wife of Donald, of Christiana; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; and siblings, Michael Terry of Lansford, Katherine O'Leary of Jim Thorpe, Mary Berk of Lansford, Barbara Miller of White Bear.  

He was predeceased by his son David; and by his siblings, Thomas Jr., Steve, Joseph and Stephanie.  

The Funeral Service will be held on Wedneday, December 3rd, 2014 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery.  Viewing will be held from 10 until 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
