Darren Michael Hume, 48, of Parkesburg, passed away on Saturday, August 5th at Jennersville Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.  

Born in Coatesville, Darren was the son of Robert J. Hume, Jr. and the late Jean E. Hume.

An area resident for most of his life, Darren was a 1988 graduate of Octorara High School.  He was formerly employed by R. Lowry Excavating in Christiana.  

Darren was Deputy Chief at Parkesburg Fire Co.  He enjoyed being a Fireman, riding ATVs, spending time at the mountain cabin and collecting trains.

He is survived, in addition to his father, by his two daughters, Heather Lynn Ranck, wife of Scott, of Nottingham, and Jacqueline Hume of Pomeroy; his significant other, Barbara Hutzler of Cochranville; and his siblings, Thomas Hume of Cochranville, David Hume, husband of Linda, of Honey Brook, and Alyce Haven, wife of Karl, of Parkesburg.  He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hume III.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, August 10th from 6 until 8 PM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, and again at the Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10 until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Coatesville.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wilde Funeral Home at the above address to help defray the cost of the funeral.

I'm so terribly sorry for your loss. I always loved hanging with Darren. Unfortunately, we didn't do that often enough. R.I.P. my friend!!! Fly high and continue to watch over the family☹

Heather words can not define the hurt that you are feeling. I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Scott and sorry for the loss of your father-in-law. My prayers are going up so that the healing hand of our Lord can come down to help mend both of your bleeding hearts. Love you both.

All too soon we have list another good firefighter. I had Darien in the EMT classes I ran and he was always enthusiastic. To his family and friends, I  pray you sence our Lord's presence with you.

I'm praying for all the family...Darren was such a nice guy and a wonderful neighbor. He would stop to talk and ask how we were doing. Always ready with a smile and a laugh. My heart goes out to all of you. God bless each of you and help you through this difficult and sad time of grieving.

Heather and Scott, so sorry to hear of you dad's passing. I know how much you loved your father, because it showed. He must of loved you so much, because we love so hard, it hurts so much. You are such a sweet person, thinking of you and praying for you. Love you, sister in Christ. Darren was a great friend and firefighter.  He grew up around the fire house until he

was old enough to join.  He worked his way up through the ranks to Deputy Chief.

He will be sadly missed by all.
