Joyce Olson Leike, 85, of Parkesburg, passed away on Thursday, July 5th, 2018 at Neighborhood Health Hospice.  She was the widow of the late Albert T. Leike, Jr.  

Born in Kane, Pa., Joyce was the daughter of the late Edith (Simpkins) and Charles Olson.  An area resident from 1964 to 1998, she returned in 2018 after living 20 years on the Gulf Coast of Florida.  

Joyce graduated from the former Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing, and was employed by the former Coatesville Hospital and Brandywine Hospital, working for 40 years.  

She was a life member for over 50 years and a Past Matron of the Fraternal Order of The Eastern Star Chapter #249 of Coatesville.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Joyce is survived by her beloved daughters: Rebecca L. Hornberger, wife of Timothy, of Parkesburg, and Melissa M. Statman, wife of David, of Meadville, Pa. and Rockland, Maine.; three grandsons, Katriel Statman, husband of Shannon Mohrman, of Houston, Tx., Ariel Statman, and fiancee Hannah Chen, of Portland, OR., and Cayton Hornberger, of Parkesburg; and her brother, Charles Olson, husband of Shirley, of Erie, PA.  

The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2018 at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, with a visitation from 10 AM until the time of the service.  

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.

i am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. She was my Girl Scout leader in the 70’s and remember her as a knowledgeable woman who offered us a chance to see the world. I visited Boston and Time Square under her troop. May God bless you in your time of grief.

so sorry for the loss of this special lady. She was an amazing role model for many young girls in the Octorara Area as Girl Scout leader. Troop 1129, I believe it was. I’ve often looked back on those years and fondly remembered Mrs Leike and the special times she created for so many of us.
