I was deeply sadden to hear of Mrs. Large's death. She had opened her home to me as a teenager when Dennis and I were dating. I remember going to Hershey Park with them and other trips. Even after Mr. Large's and Dennis' deaths, we still stayed in touch. Finally she is reunited with her family, even though we will miss her. My condolences to her family.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of one very fine lady! She has touched the hearts of many people. She was well loved at the Parkesburg Baptist Church. Mrs. Large was our Sunday school teacher and showed patience and love when teaching the word of God. I know that she is happy to be reunited with her husband and son, but she will be missed here on earth.

My heart felt sadness to Ida Mae's family know to me as Mrs. Large all my life. Anyone who grew up around Dee's store knew Delno, Ida Mae and Dennis with his hub cap collection. Denise and I have been her neighbor for 26 years and she has been a wonderful friend, neighbor and mentor to our children. All who knew her had to be touched by her strength, perseverance and faith in the Lord that guided her after the devastating loss of Delno and Dennis. She lived alone but if you ever talked to her she was always in touch with both of the people she loved the most. She will be deeply missed but she is finally in the arms of her family.

Ida Mae was active in so many things. I remember the valuable time she gave to the Lioness Club and the many wonderful women, including my mom, that were active in this program. Many fond memories have been left for us to cherish. Of course, Dee's store is a highlight to many of us. An era gone by. The family is in my prayers during this difficult time.

So sorry I missed the obituary for Ida Mae. I read in Friday's paper but the service had already taken place. I admired her very much. She always had a smile and was so friendly. My sympathy goes out to all her family even though "Gus" and Alice are the two 2nd cousins I know. The world is a better place because of all Ida Mae did while here.

I felt such deep sadness for Tuckle leaving this world. But I also feel such joy for her because she is exactly where she wants to be. She is with Delno and Dennis and her much loved Mother. We taught Sunday School together for 23 years. It was my pleasure and a priviledge to have gotten to know her so well. We had many long conversations and her wisdom, courage and faith amazed me. We talked so many times about Delno,Dennis and her Mother. Some of the memories were sad but so often she would talk about funny things and we would laugh together. I truly loved and adrmired her. Her wisdom and faith will always remain a part of me. I was away for her services. My daughter and my husband knew what she meant to me and they brought my love with them. She is now smiling her beautiful smile and saying I'm home now.

We have lost our angel on earth, but heaven is now her new and happy home with her beloved husband, Delno, and dear son, Dennis. I have known Mrs. Large my entire life, as their family lived next door to our large Constable family. My mom, Ethel is also very sad now, as she lost her best friend in Ida Mae. Dennis was 2 years younger than me and also my brother Larry's best friend. I used to play with them alot, when they would let me, and we even built soapbox derby cars together with our dads and raced them on 1st Ave in parkesburg. Dennis and Larry were like brothers and loved to play with their matchbox cars, (with sand added from Dennis's sandbox} on Dennis's back fence of his yard. We played kickball and baseball in the big empty field next door, set up candy, cupcake and
lemonade stands, and sold our used toys in our front yards,{Mrs. Large supplied the food}. Dennis and Larry always knew how to make a buck, even during the Catholic Church Fair in the summer, in the empty field next door, those boys were charging 5.00 to park cars! They worked on many different cars in my dad's garages, while also test driving them up and down the alley. Dennis had the best Birthday parties, and Mrs. Large would always make her famous cupcakes that spelled out HAPPY BIRTHDAY DENNIS. We had fun in their basement listening to his 45rpm records, and his favorite semmed to be Snoopy and The Red Baron's Christmas song, even blarring that song throughout his bedroom window all through the year! I always think of Dennis when I hear that song. My sisters and brothers enjoyed walking and riding our bikes to Dee's candy store, and sitting out back to eat and chatting with Dennis, also twins Tim and Tom Brown, and Mike Nunnemaker. They were all friends. Dennis even worked in the store with his mom and dad, but no way would he give us free candy! Dennis was so proud of his hubcap collection that he even hung them on the back wall of Dee's store! Mr Large was a kind and loving man, a hard worker, and loved taking care of his family. I remember a few times when he invited our family to a christmas shopping spree at his job at American Hardware in Parkesburg. I had never seen so many toys in my life! Mrs. Large was devastated to lose her family in that accident, but she faithfully and continiously channeled her energy and devotion to her family in the most positive direction, to help and reach out to others, and through her loyalty to the Mother's Against Drunk Driving. She spoke to many schools, sharing her story of courage and hope, and on several occasions invited my mother to speak also of numerous neighborhood stories and adventures of Dennis and Delno. My mom recalls a story, that Mrs. Large shared of the last gift from her husband was a butterfly pin for their anniversary, shortly before the accident. Mrs. Large wore that pin everyday for many years ,until one day she lost it. She bought another one to wear , but said it wasn't the same. My mom then bought her a pretty butterfly necklace for Christmas, which she dearly loved. Mrs. Large was like a family member to me, and especially after the accident. Our family invited or drove her to many of our family parties, events, and family reunions over the past 30 years. She became famous for her shoofly cupcakes at our picnics! Mrs. Large was a lovely lady whom I always admired and respected for her true love of God and her never ending faith in God, and in the greatest hope and desire to one day embrace her loving husband and amazing son in her arms again for all eternity. Although my heart is saddened, along with my family, we feel comfort in our hearts that she is finally reunited with her family, and at total peace. Our prayers will continue to be with your family. The Large family has touched many lives over the years and we can all cherish our happy and fun memories of them.

I just noticed this obituary for a dear lady that I happened to meet in her consignment shop a few years back. I was drawn by her lovely and sweet spirit and love of the Lord. When she told me about the tragedy of losing both her only child and husband due to a drunk driver I heard no bitterness over it. Truly a wonderful example of a Godly woman. She prayed with me several times during times of illness and uncertainty.
God has given her true peace in taking her home. May her sweet legacy live on as an example of overcoming tragedy with Gods peace.
